Amazon Picker/Packer
About the position
As an Amazon Sortation Center Warehouse Associate, you will be an integral part of a dedicated team that serves as the first stop in the journey of packages from the warehouse to customers. This role is fast-paced and physical, taking place in a sortation center where you will be responsible for sorting, scanning, and stacking packages on pallets. Your efforts will directly contribute to preparing customer orders for delivery, ensuring that they reach their destinations efficiently and on time. In this position, you will have the flexibility to choose your shifts, as most of them are part-time. This allows you to control your schedule and adjust it as needed in the future. Your duties will include receiving and sorting inventory, getting customer orders ready for delivery, and utilizing technology such as scanners, computers, and handheld printers to facilitate these tasks. You will also be required to lift packages weighing up to 49 pounds and perform various physical activities such as standing, walking, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching during your shifts. Additionally, you may need to use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other equipment to move items around the warehouse, and in some cases, work at heights of up to 40 feet on a mezzanine. Safety is a top priority at Amazon, and you will be provided with protective gear to ensure your well-being while working around moving machines, including order pickers, stand-up forklifts, turret trucks, and mobile carts. The work environment can vary in temperature, ranging from 60°F to 90°F, and it can be noisy at times, for which hearing protection is provided if necessary. The dress code is relaxed, but you will need to wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes, and in some business units, protective safety footwear is required. To help you prepare for your first day, Amazon offers a $110 Zappos gift code towards the purchase of shoes. Working at Amazon means being part of a supportive team in a state-of-the-art workplace that values work-life balance. You will have the opportunity to learn new skills, including the use of the latest technology and robotics, and benefit from various company-driven initiatives that support your career goals.
